Next week schools around the country will be commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students will be engaged in service projects and learning about the message of Martin Luther King, Jr.   But what is the state of civil rights education in our country today? 

Congratulations to Della Curtis, coordinator of library information services for Baltimore County Public Schools and winner of Tech & Learning magazine’s 24th annual Leader of the Year program. Della, who has blogged for us here at SAFARI Montage HD Network, has been honored for her visionary leadership in the creation of a true library without walls through the use of the technology she has brought into BCPS, and the way it has been integrated into administrative and instructional needs in a cost-effective manner. 

In speaking with SAFARI Montage users in schools districts around the country we have heard of some really interesting and exciting ways that SAFARI Montage is being used to support back to school initiatives.  Here are a few of our favorites...

We sure felt the love at ISTE this year in Philadelphia. We saw many customers and potential customers at our booth and in the SAFARI Montage Effective Digital Classroom.

Today was another great day at ISTE in the SAFARI Montage Effective Digital Classroom, Meeting Room 105A. We had some terrific sessions-- it was standing-room only for Tim Beekman's session, SAFARI Montage: A Total Solution for Integrating District and Classroom Technology and Digital Resources and the room was buzzing all day long with presentations from Motorola and Keller ISD, Panasonic, Cyber Science, CableTime, Hitachi and more.

We kicked off ISTE 2011 with 3 very successful workshops in the SAFARI Montage Effective Digital Classroom. 

Join us at ISTE 2011 (June 26-29 in Philadelphia, PA) where we will be showcasing the integration of K-12 education technology at its best! 

As February 2011 draws to close I expect many of you are concluding lessons or units in commemoration of African American History Month. While SAFARI Montage offers many resources in support of the achievements and history of African Americans, Eyes on the Prize, is perhaps the most widely used and highly valued series on the Civil Rights Movement.

September is the most hectic month of the school year, wouldn’t you agree? In addition to all that goes into the first few week of school there may also be the additional challenge of learning a new technology or re-familiarizing yourself with something you’ve used in the past—students aren’t the only ones who forget things over the summer!
