Symptoms
* Videos do not play
* Cannot browse to videolibary server share.
* Samba processes are not running.
* Samba is no longer on the server.
* Hashing large files returns inconsistent values.
Cause
The update from Samba 2 to Samba 3 fails during the 2.1.1 update process. Samba 2 is removed from the system, but Samba 3 cannot be installed due to a failed checksum when decompression is attempted. This is due to a misbehaving processor causing inconsistent results when hashing large files.
Solution
Contact technical support to confirm processor behavior. Return server for service.
