Kathleen, your 8/28 blog on Autistic Learners was very interesting and consistent with what we've heard elsewhere...are there any recommendations that you would have for us to enhance SAFARI Montage to make it more accessible or engaging for autistic learners or other special needs students?

I hope I am not stealing her thunder, but one of the teachers in my building who has an autistic student shared with me today that the student loves watching the Trashy Town video. I hadn't watched it yet. When I did watch it, I wondered, what is it about the video that makes it so appealing...the teacher with whom I work suggested that it may be because the student loves pizza! I was thinking maybe boys like it because they've been obsessed with watching the trash truck since they were able to walk to the windows throughout the house and see just what the trash truck is doing (it's a very interesting truck for sure)...what ever the case, the interest and visual appeal are piqued with use of SM! Do your students like Trashy Town?
